Bookelicious!
And the learning hasn't stopped! Mrs. Favor's Capitol Elementary second graders were caught participating in Bookelicious last week. Newbery Medal-winning author Katherine Applegate recently partnered with Bookelicious to inspire young readers through a special virtual author event. Known for beloved books such as The One and Only Ivan, Odder, and Pocket Bear, Applegate continues to encourage children to discover the joy of reading through meaningful stories and engaging conversations. Bookelicious is an innovative literacy platform that helps children find books they truly enjoy by matching them with titles based on their interests. Katherine Applegate connected virtually with our Capitol students, sharing insights about her writing journey, beloved characters, and newest books. Applegate’s stories often focus on compassion, resilience, friendship, and understanding others, themes that continue to resonate with readers across the country. We thank librarian Mrs. Pam Alexander, for organizing this end-of-year reading event that just might spur the lifelong love of books.
