Capitol students celebrated DOT Day last week after learning important lessons about self-esteem, perseverance, creativity & believing in themselves! Capitol Counselor Barbara Utley used The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds to teach students that sometimes all it takes is one small step, and the courage to try to discover what you are capable of. Students learned that they don’t have to be perfect or have everything figured out to begin. By trying, growing from mistakes & believing in their own abilities, they can accomplish more than they may have imagined. After exploring the importance of a growth mindset, confidence & creativity, students put those lessons into action by creating their own dots and making their mark!
